Safety & security
The university campus is generally a safe place for our students, faculty and staff. As a peer-mentor you are reminded of the following information.Everyone has the right to feel safe and secure while on campus, day or at night. Keep in mind as well that if you or your peer-buddy happens to become a victim of crime please, report it to the local authorities.
All students should care for their own individual personal safety when walking, using public transportation, operating ATMS, driving and parking a car or using a mobile phone etc. To prevent a threat to personal safety or at least help to prepare if safety is threatened follow the protocol below:
- Know the location and number of the Campus Security Office (at the main entrance of the campus - there is 24/7 security service provided by the University)
- The campus is fenced around with three exists to the surrounding streets (main gated entrance to István utca, Building H public walk in entrance to Bethlen Gábor utca and gated entrance to Dembinszky utca)
- In case of emergencies you can contact campus security or directly dial emergency services #112.
- When using public transport, check timetables to ensure you are not waiting long periods at transport stops. If you do have to wait, stand in a well-lit area near other people if possible at night.
- If you are catching a taxi, try to book rather than hail one.
- Campus security service keeps car parks under observation as often as possible but responsibility for the security of vehicles and their contents rests with the owners.
- The University encourages cycling as it is the most environmentally sustainable mode of transport, other than walking, for commuters and visitors. To protect your bicycle and reduce the likelihood of it being stolen use the bike-storage area at the main entrance. Use a D-Lock or other high end security device. Do not leave bicycles out overnight if possible.
- If you have lost or misplaced any of your property visit the Campus security post by the main entrance.
- Hand in any lost items you find to the Campus security post by the main entrance. To assist in returning your property if it becomes lost, write your name and identification number on any books, folders, clothing or other items.
