Forth week activities
1.) Time and task management is important for getting academic work done efficiently. In regard to scheduling activities (prioritizing tasks and knowing what subject perhaps requires more time to prepare for) at this point in the 4th week your mentee still does not have a clear picture. So we think it worth to dedicate an entire session to time management. We would ask you to explore this aspect of academic strategies. (Feel free to proactively ask specific questions about what your mentee is doing in regards to time management) such as which are those subjects that require more effort at this point from him/her? or how he/she balances time? Talk about your own observations & experiences. Try to be specific regarding subjects in the first year program. and go through the list of classes one by one.2.) In addition to going through the list of subjects/classes, make sure you talk about the expectations of professors/instructors/lecturers for example their particular characteristics, their way of teaching and examination habits. This is also valuable to first year student to know what subject is taught with a particular focus that may not be mentioned in the curriculum or syllabus.
3.) When it comes to time and task management it is necessary to point out the meaning and value of "free time" and how to spend it as free time, as it is being scarce. Feel free to talk about some of the mistakes perhaps you personally made in your first year or you saw fellow students made in terms of time management.
