« Back to first week main page

First week tends to be very intensive. Topics we invite you to explore with your buddy are:

1.) Getting to know each other - taking care of immediate needs - answering questions your buddy wanted to ask. Please, include:
- agree on when/where you are going to meet next time
- in what way and how you can be an assistance to your buddy in the next 8 weeks (how you can be reached in e-mail, phone, in person)

2.) Make sure your buddy understands Neptun on a basic level (logging on, finding class info, grades, dropping/registering for classes)

3.) Go through his/her class schedule - share your experience about a few of the subjects (2-3 different ones - so next time you can continue with other ones)

4.) Talk over getting food/drinks on-campus (cafeteria, coffee shop) how they operate - use resource library for more information

5.) If your buddy has a specific issue in the area of academics, finance, administration explore where he/she can find additional help on-campus, beside you.

6.) Feel free to give a short private tour of the most frequented campus facilities (where students socialize, have classes)

7.) Talk about the importance of being punctual, class attendance (professors taking attendance) or anything else you deem relevant

Please, stay open and listen, let your peer talk, use questions to engage and encourage. As a mentor you can being up topics and themes based on your weekly assignments. Keep in mind our main task is to make your mentoree self efficient and self reliant.
