First week tasks for you as a peer-mentor
As you know, coming to University can be both exciting and daunting experience for a freshman student. The first week is very much a sensory overload. Thus your task as peer-mentor is going to be to establish yourself as a cheerful pro-active, but stable support source for the next 8 weeks. We will give you tools on how to become effective in this supporting role.On each of the following weeks ahead - as you click on the given week - you will find mostly 3 links to guide you through what topics you may want to cover with your peer-buddy. Week after week there will be activates you may invite your peer to do - the decision is up to him/her. If you follow the instructions, and complete these fun tasks with your mentoree, you can compete with other peer-teams and win cool prizes and gain recognitions at those fun social events we organized for all of you.
Please, read all four topics always before your meetings with your buddy. The reading and self-reflecting of all the materials below takes about 15 minutes.
1. IMPORTANT tasks for the orientation day before you meet your buddy!
2. Topics to explore with your peer-buddy for the first week.
3. Fun activity ideas for the week.
4. Mental framing for mentors - a deeper understanding of first week.
